Codes of Conduct Policy

Introduction

Space 2B You is committed to providing a high standard therapeutic and diagnostic service. Therefore, all clinicians and staff members are expected to observe the highest standards of integrity in their conduct.   

This Code of Conduct is developed in conjunction with the ethical frameworks of governing bodies including, BACP, BABCP, BPS, AFT etc. who provide clear standards. 

This Code of Conduct is the framework within which all practices must be conducted, managed, and regulated in accordance with the law and ways of doing business ethically and responsibly. 

Objective

Space 2B You are committed to treating all staff and clients with respect, dignity, and fairness. Therefore, ensuring the highest ethical standards of integrity, courtesy and mutual respect. Space 2B You will take appropriate measures to maintain a physically, emotionally, safe, and healthy place of work. 

This policy is designed in compliance with the legal requirements, regulations and in conjunction with Space 2B You policies and procedures include: 

  • Employee Handbook 

  • Induction Policy 

  • Safeguarding Policy 

  • Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy applies to every person working with Space 2B You regardless of position and level of responsibility. Therefore, each staff member should have a clear understanding of this code and expected behaviours to prevent situations from arising that may impact the integrity of Space 2B You. 

Professionalism and Respect   

Space 2B You staff members are expected to promote a positive working atmosphere which is based on trust and respect. Therefore, maintaining environment where staff members and clients feel safe, respected, and accepted. 

The following (not exhaustive) are examples of this expectation: 

a) Staff should demonstrate honesty and integrity in all relations with clients, colleagues, commissioners, and referrers in both word and deed. 

b) Staff will respect difference without discrimination. 

c) Treat all people courteously and in a professional manner at all times. 

d) All decisions will be made in the best interest of the client.  

e) Staff will follow all Space 2B You policies and procedures.  

f) Staff will follow their Governing bodies Ethical Frameworks.  

Standards of Behaviour 

Staff members are expected to exhibit behaviour that demonstrates respect for the rights and safety of themselves and others. If a staff member breaches the behaviour codes listed below this may result in disciplinary action and dismissal:  

a) A staff member’s behaviour, in or out of the workplace, should not compromise their position within the work environment. 

b) Staff members should not verbally abuse, use inappropriate and/or offensive language or gestures when communicating with colleague, clients, commissioners, referrers, or the general public.  

c) Space 2B You embrace individuality and recognise a staff member’s dress and appearance is a personal choice and self-expression. However, Space 2B you expect staff to dress in a respectful way. 

d) Space 2B You expects staff members not to engage in drug use during or external to their working environment. 

e) Space 2B You expects staff member not to be under the influence of alcohol or suffering from the impact of previously consumed alcohol whilst working.  

f) Staff members should not post or engage in online activities that disrespect or insult clients, colleagues, or Space 2B You. This includes discussing clients on online platforms.  

g) Staff should not be communicating with clients outside of their professional role.  

h) Care and regard for Space 2B You property and the property of others should be practiced at all times. 

Loyalty, Impartiality and Conflict of Interest 

Space 2B You expect staff members to carry out their work with care and diligence. Furthermore, they are expected to be honest, act in good faith and in the best interest of the client. Therefore, they must avoid any real or perceived conflict of interest and decisions based on personal gain.   

a) Space 2B You expects staff members to be honest. 

b) Staff members are expected to respect the interests of Space 2B You. 

c) Any direct or indirect interest that staff members have as a partner, shareholder, director, employee, agent, or consultant of any business related to or involved with Space 2B You must be disclosed. 

d) Equipment or services must only be used for purposes intended by Space 2B you. 

e) An illegal or irregular situation which a staff member becomes aware is to be disclosed to the directors.  

Confidentiality and Access Information 

Staff members will have access to client’s confidential information. Space 2B You expect all staff to keep client information and documents confidential and must follow Data Protection and Privacy Policy and Guidelines.  

a) Staff members must not discuss client information unless for professional reasons. This information must only be shared in the best interest of the client and on a need-to-know basis.  

b) Access to confidential information must not be used for personal gain. 

c) Personal information obtained by a staff member during their practice must not be communicated or posted online. 

d) Oral and written communication with the media must be conducted only by the official designated Space 2B You spokesperson. 

e) Confidential information must be treated with respect.  

Information Governance 

Personal identifying Information for both clients and staff is confidential and must not be disclosed to unauthorised persons and will continue in perpetuity. This is a legal obligation; therefore, any breaches of personal confidential information or data may result in prosecution and/or an action for civil damages under the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.  

Gifts and Benefits 

Staff members cannot accept any gifts other than those that are common and of minimal value. When in doubt, the staff member must disclose the gift to the directors. 

Disciplinary Actions 

Breach of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action.
